New Features
3 of 3New Match Types
This year's game has something for every fan of any era.
WWE and 2K always look to improve their annual release anyway possible, including the introduction of new match types for fans to participate in. This year, new additions to the lineup include the "I Quit," Dumpster, 3 Stages of Hell, and Inferno Matches.
Yes, you can recreate the epic encounter between The Undertaker and his brother, Kane as you compete inside a wall of flame. The match, back in the game after a long hiatus, is yet another Attitude Era creation that provides yet another bit of nostalgia while creating a fresh match type for fans to compete in as their favorite wrestlers.
The Dumpster Match was popularized by The New Age Outlaws, Cactus Jack, and Chainsaw Charlie during the Attitude Era and most recently, was the blow-off to a months-long feud between Michin and Chelsea Green. Now, fans can get the last laugh on their opponents by tossing them in a dumpster, closing the lid, and claiming victory.
The "I Quit" match type will command a wrestler with great submission skills to win as the only way to emerge victoriously is via tap out. Finally, the 3 Stages of Hell match allows players to take three different types, put them in one match, and test their endurance in a best-of-three-falls setting.
Gameplay Mechanics
There is nothing worse that knocked a Superstar off of a ladder and watching them fall to the mat below in a disjointed manner that would almost certainly be their demise in real life.
2K has developed new gameplay mechanics that allow for a more natural flow to the game, including for those landing on the mat or on a weapon. Bumps will occur more naturally and when fighting into the crowd, there will be fewer invisible edges and barricades to catch onto, "allowing Superstars to interact more naturally with the environment and with props," the game's official website stated.
The championship podium makes an appearance at ringside and allows players to utilize the title as a weapon, too.
There are more usable objects, increase attention to start-of-match actions, and new commentary team presentation, with the addition of Wade Barrett and Booker T to the mix as 2K and WWE look to deliver the most fun, realistic presentation ever.
