Omaha WCBB Players Help Driver After Cars Fall into Sinkhole at Stop Light on Video
Two Omaha women's basketball players jumped into action after a freak accident on Tuesday.
Per On3's Talia Goodman, Olivia Borsutzki and Esra Kurban were among the bystanders who helped pull a driver out of their car after a sinkhole opened up on a road in Omaha.

According to Goodman, the two players were on their way home from practice when the sinkhole opened, taking in two cars that were just ahead of them at a red light.
"I was still in the car and I saw a man in a hole," Borsutzki said. "I was like, 'I need to help.' Nobody was helping."
Borsutzki then approached the edge of the sinkhole and saw a man sitting in his car. She called upon another bystander to help as other cars drove past. Eventually, both drivers were out of their cars and on solid ground, thanks in large part to Borsutzki and Kurban's quick thinking.
"My dad told me that could have been really bad…," Borsutzki said. "In the moment it was just adrenaline. We just wanted to help."
One city engineer, Austin Rowser, said an underground pressurized water leak likely caused the sudden sinkhole.
"Ultimately it comes down to erosion because all pavement as you know, it's not built to stand on its own, it has to have the support from the soil underneath it," Rowser said, per WOWT in Omaha.
Borsutzki, a junior guard from Munich, Germany, joined Omaha this season after spending the 2024-25 campaign with Xavier. Kurban is a freshman guard from Istanbul, Turkey. The Mavericks are 5-25 on the season.
