No. 15 St. John's head coach Rick Pitino took responsibility for the team's lopsided 72-40 loss to No. 6 UConn on Wednesday.

"It's all on me, very disappointed in our performance, offensively especially, of sharing the ball, moving the ball," Pitino told reporters after the game. "So it's all on me."

The defeat snapped a 13-game winning streak for the Red Storm.

UConn set the tone early in Wednesday's matchup, opening the game with a 9-2 lead before eventually holding a 31-11 advantage with just over six minutes remaining in the first half.

The Huskies led 41-26 at halftime.

St. John's didn't fare much better in the second half, as Pitino's squad was held to a mere 14 points over the final 20 minutes of action.

The Red Storm missed 24 consecutive field goals to end the contest, the longest streak by an AP-ranked team in the last eight seasons (h/t ESPN's Sam Ravech). It also represented the longest streak without a made field goal by a Big East team in the last eight seasons.

The Johnnies shot a mere 19.6 percent from the field as a team, committing eight turnovers compared to eight assists. Sophomore guard Joson Sanon was the only St. John's player to record a double-digit scoring total, finishing with 10 points on 3-of-10 shooting.

UConn moved into the No. 1 spot in the Big East standings with the win, while the Red Storm fell to No. 2.
