Master P Says He Has Offers for CBB HC Jobs, Compares Impact to Deion Sanders with Colorado

Rap mogul to college basketball head coach?

It could happen for Master P.

Master P, which is the stage name of Percy Miller, joined TMZ Sports for a story published Sunday and revealed multiple colleges have reached out to him for job opportunities after he has worked as an assistant coach and the president of basketball operations at the University of New Orleans.

"I have so many colleges now looking at me like, 'Hey, come join our program because of the business side that I have,'" Miller said. "But I'm thankful for being where I'm at and just working."

He also said some "want me to be a head coach" even though he isn't sure if he's "ready yet."

While it could be something of an outside-the-box hire, Miller highlighted the additional attention the Colorado football team received when it made its own outside-the-box hire and brought in Deion Sanders as the head coach.

"Times are changing," he said. "People don't want the traditional coaches anymore. They want coaches who are going to think outside the box. How are we going to get fans into our stands? … Just the way that he has the fatherhood he has with his program, no matter if you're winning or losing, he's gonna be there. He's going to find corporations and other people to get around them."

Colorado hired Sanders ahead of the 2023 campaign. While the success hasn't fully come on the field with a 16-21 record in three years, the Buffaloes have been under a much brighter national spotlight with the Hall of Famer as the coach.

And the spotlight for New Orleans has also been brighter with Master P.

It hired him in February 2025 after he coached the P. Miller Ballers to three national championships at the AAU level. Players such as DeMar DeRozan, Brandon Jennings, Lance Stephenson and Jalen Suggs all played for Miller on that team.

The Privateers have also demonstrated notable improvement since he joined, as they went 4-27 last season but are off to a 13-15 start this season.

If they continue on that pace, a first NCAA men's tournament appearance since 2017 could be in play in the near future.

And that might lead to even more job offers for Master P.
