Yankees' Jazz Chisholm Jr. Eyes Historic 50-50 Club, Reveals Goals for 2026 MLB Season

Adam WellsFeb 19, 2026

New York Yankees second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. is never lacking confidence in himself, and his stated goals for the 2026 season are further evidence of that.

Speaking to The Athletic's Chris Kirschner, Chisholm's agenda for the upcoming season includes joining Shohei Ohtani as the only players in MLB history in the 50-50 club.

"Ask Cap (Aaron Judge)," Chisholm said. "Real life. Let's just be realistic. I got all the tools for it. I have the speed, the power, the plate discipline, the eye at the plate, defense. I got everything to accumulate a 10-WAR season."

This isn't the first time Chisholm has talked about what he wants to accomplish in 2026 since spring training started. He previously discussed his goals of winning AL MVP and helping the Yankees win a World Series.

One thing that Chisholm consistently talks about is increasing his homer and stolen-base output. He said late in the 2025 campaign that there's a 40-40 season in his future. Now, just a few months later, he's bumped that up to 50-50.

While 50-50 would be a big jump from his career-highs in both categories, 40-40 could be within reach for Chisholm. He had 31 homers and 31 stolen bases last season. His career high in stolen bases was 40 in 2024.

"You're looking at the second one," Chisholm said when he was reminded Ohtani is the only player who has gone 50-50 in a season.

As a left-handed hitter playing home games in Yankee Stadium with the short porch in right field, Chisholm could get up to 40 dingers if he stays healthy. Durability could be an obstacle because he has only played more than 140 games once in his six MLB seasons.

A 10-WAR season is also an incredibly lofty goal. Ohtani has never hit that number in his career using FanGraphs' WAR model. His single-season high is 9.4 set last season (7.9 as a hitter, 1.5 as a pitcher).

Judge has put up at least 10 WAR in three of the past four seasons. That's not bad company to keep if you're Chisholm, especially as he enters a season with free agency looming next winter.
