Doug Gottlieb Calls Out Refs in Heated Press Conference Video After Green Bay's Loss to Milwaukee

Timothy RappFeb 15, 2026

Green Bay men's basketball head coach Doug Gottlieb was not pleased that he was issued a technical foul during Sunday's 75-72 loss against Milwaukee, and he certainly wasn't happy with how the game was officiated in general.

"Every time we touched them it was a foul in the second half," he told reporters. "The last play of the game, just to get the ball, they're grabbing and holding us. And again, I understand if you're not calling that, that's fine. You had the exact same play at both ends on the last play of the game. The exact same f--king play [slams table repeatedly]. The exact same play. So I need the new commissioner of the Horizon League to explain to me what a technical foul is when I don't leave the box, I don't curse, I'm not demonstrative. There was nothing—nothing—that should have been called a technical foul. I know when I've earned one. I did not earn one."

With 24 seconds to go, Green Bay's Preston Ruedinger was whistled for fouling Milwaukee's Amar Augillard. On the next possession, Ruedinger had the ball ripped out of his hands while driving to the basket by Milwaukee's Stevie Elam, but no foul was called and Green Bay fouled Elam after the change in possession. Gottlieb felt the two plays were similar and should have been officiated in a similar fashion.

The head coach was given a technical earlier in the second half, with 6:58 remaining, after arguing with officials.
