AJ Lee Beats Becky Lynch for WWE IC Title, What Should Happen at WrestleMania 42?

AJ Lee beat Becky Lynch at Elimination Chamber on Saturday to win the WWE Women's Intercontinental Championship for the first time in her career.

Lee had the title won after getting Lynch to tap out with the Black Widow, but referee Jessika Carr was knocked out cold after the IC titleholder accidentally hit the official in the head with a kick meant for Lee.

With the ref knocked out, Lynch brought a steel chair into the ring. She eventually hit Lee with a DDT on the chair before striking her foe with a Manhandle Slam onto the mat. The Man then shook the ref awake enough for a count, but Lee kicked out at two.

Lynch then tried to attack Lee again, but she collided face-first into a turnbuckle she exposed earlier in the match.

After taking a dose of her own medicine, Lynch then got caught in Lee's Black Widow once more. This time, the ref saw her tap out, leading to Lee's victory.

Elimination Chamber marked the first-ever singles match between Lynch and Lee, but they clashed on a couple of previous occasions to set the stage for Saturday's title contest.

It started in September when Lee made her return to WWE more than a decade after retiring from in-ring competition.

Amid CM Punk's feud with Seth Rollins, Lynch made her presence felt since she is married to The Visionary. Needing to even the odds, Punk enlisted help from his wife, Lee, who immediately neutralized The Man.

At Wrestlepalooza, Lee and Punk defeated Lynch and Rollins in what was AJ's first match of any kind in over 10 years.

That was only the beginning of the rivalry between AJ and Becky, though, as things reached another level in November when Lee interfered in Lynch's Women's Intercontinental Championship defense against Maxxine Dupri and cost her the title.

Lee joined the WarGames team led by Rhea Ripley shortly thereafter, and in retaliation, Lynch became part of The Kabuki Warriors' squad, leading to a massive grudge match at Survivor Series.

Ultimately, Lee's team was victorious, giving her bragging rights over The Man on yet another occasion.

Lee was off television for the next couple of months, but she resurfaced on the Feb. 9 episode of Raw, much to the chagrin of Lynch.

When Becky became aware of AJ's presence, she called her out and expressed her desire to make Lee pay for her past actions. However, AJ turned it around on Lynch and goaded her into putting the women's IC title on the line at Elimination Chamber.

Lee took advantage of the situation and beat Lynch for the title, and given their rivalry still has plenty of legs, a rematch at WrestleMania 42 is the most logical next step.
