The timing worked out great because the Grateful Dead are famously a California band, and they had a connection to the UCLA basketball program. They even paid tribute to Bruins legend and Grateful Dead superfan Bill Walton during a concert in June 2024 after he died at the age of 71.
In addition to the UCLA connection, the Grateful Dead have deep ties to the Ducks' home in Eugene. They performed on campus more than 20 times, including 10 times at Autzen Stadium.
UCLA left Oregon with a 73-57 victory.
