Dodgers Manager Reveals Where Kyle Tucker Will Hit in Lineup With Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts, More
Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts provided information to reporters about new star outfielder Kyle Tucker's defensive and lineup assignments on Wednesday.
Tucker signed a four-year, $240 million contract with the Dodgers last Thursday, per Jeff Passan of ESPN. The deal includes opt-outs after his second and third seasons.
The 29-year-old Tucker hit .266 (.841 OPS) with 22 home runs and 73 RBI in 136 games last season for the Chicago Cubs. He also scored 91 runs and stole 25 bases.
He's played eight MLB seasons (seven with the Houston Astros, one with the Cubs). Tucker is a three-time All-Star who also has a Gold Glove and Silver Slugger to his name.
Tucker was largely considered the best available free agent this offseason, and the two-time defending World Series champion Dodgers, who have consistently grabbed all the biggest available names on the market of late, now add another key piece in their quest for a three-peat.
As far as the 2026 lineup goes, four-time MVP Shohei Ohtani will presumably be back in the leadoff spot. The rest of the top five should include Tucker, Freddie Freeman, Will Smith and Mookie Betts in some order.
The Dodgers' title defense begins on March 26 when they host the Arizona Diamondbacks.
