Celtics' Jaylen Brown Drops New Salsa Video, Credits Dance as 'Secret Ingredient' to Success

Jaylen Brown is having the best statistical season of his career and is in the middle of the MVP race as the leader of the Boston Celtics while Jayson Tatum is sidelined with injury.

And Brown apparently has a "secret ingredient" that is helping him put up such impressive numbers.

The Celtics star released a new salsa video Saturday and credited the dance for some of his success his season.

"Like, quietly behind the scenes, I've been working on my—my salsa, and it's actually like the secret ingredient, I think, to why I'm having the year that I'm having," he said. "Cuz I've been working on my footwork and my balance, and uh—and salsa's like helped me tremendously. So we been—I've already done a couple sessions this summer, I've already been working on it."

Brown also revealed the dancing has helped him deal with the cold of winter.

"For me, like I live in Boston — it's a cold weather," he said. "It's kinda cold here in LA too right now. But in Boston it's really cold. So one of the things that I like to do to kinda warm up my space—put on some salsa music, dance. It kinda like helps with your mental health and things like that."

Nobody can argue with the results, as the 29-year-old is averaging 29.7 points, 6.4 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game while shooting 49.1 percent from the floor and 36.7 percent from deep. The points and assists averages are both career-best marks, and he is a major reason the Celtics are in second place in the Eastern Conference standings at 26-15.

There were understandable questions about how competitive Boston would be this season with Tatum sidelined by an Achilles injury and the front office's decision to trade away Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porziņģis.

Yet Brown's excellent individual play has allowed the team to remain on the short list of realistic NBA Finals contenders in the Eastern Conference and perhaps clear the way for a Tatum return down the line.

Perhaps more players should try salsa dancing because the four-time All-Star is dialed in this season.
