New NFL Rumors on John Harbaugh's Talks With Brian Daboll's Staff Before Taking Giants Job
John Harbaugh reportedly checked in with Brian Daboll's staff before agreeing to work as the next head coach of the New York Giants, SNY's Connor Hughes reported Thursday.
According to Hughes, "Harbaugh sought out and contacted positional coaches from Brian Daboll's staff to pick their brains on the state of the roster."
Some of the Giants coaches said they spoke to Harbaugh for more than 30 minutes while discussing the "ins and outs" of the team, according to Hughes.

The Giants fired Daboll in November after a 2-8 start to the campaign, two months before the Baltimore Ravens dismissed Harbaugh following a playoff miss in his 18th season with the team.
Harbaugh is now finalizing an agreement to become the Giants' next head coach, according to multiple reports. His contract is expected to span five years, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Harbaugh, who won a Super Bowl to cap off the 2012 season, left Baltimore with a .614 regular-season win percentage over 18 seasons with the team.
Prior to joining Baltimore in 2008, Harbaugh had spent 10 years working with the Philadelphia Eagles.
The New York Post's Paul Schwartz previously reported that Harbaugh had spoken to Daboll about Giants general manager Joe Schoen before accepting a job with Big Blue.
According to Schwartz, Daboll "was extremely complimentary about the entire Giants operation and is believed to have assured Harbaugh that he would have no problem working with Schoen, as Schoen believes in a collaborative approach."
Harbaugh also spoke with Tom Coughlin, who coached the Giants from 2004 to 2015, and Eli Manning, who played for the franchise from 2004 to 2019, before taking the job, according to Schwartz.
Former Giants personnel weren't the only people Harbaugh reportedly discussed the team with prior to working out his contract.
Harbaugh also met with Giants rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart while touring the facility earlier this week, The Athletic's Ian O'Connor and Dianna Russini reported.
According to O'Connor and Russini, Harbaugh told one person Dart's tape gave him "a lot to be excited about."
Harbaugh is expected to be joined in New York by former Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken, according to Russini.
He will now hope his and Monken's experience with Lamar Jackson, as well as young Giants stars like wide receiver Malik Nabers and running back Cam Skattebo, will help Dart take a step forward in his second NFL season.
