Eagles 'Looked Horrible,' NFL Exec Says After Nick Sirianni, Philly's Loss to Brock Purdy, 49ers
A steady theme for the Philadelphia Eagles throughout 2025 was that they supposedly weren't as good as their record indicated, so it's fitting they closed out the year with such a flat performance on Sunday.
The reigning Super Bowl champions lost 23-19 to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Wild Card Round.
"Philly looked horrible to me," a rival NFL executive said to The Athletic's Mike Sando. "They could not move the ball. The offense looked sluggish. They were getting into it on the sideline. Just not good. San Francisco could not run the ball at all. They hit a few passes, but that was really it."

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
The Eagles finished with 307 yards of offense, and they had the ball for 35:39 of the game.
Every possession, even the three-and-outs, felt like a slog. The drive that culminated in Dallas Goedert's nine-yard touchdown reception lasted nine minutes.
For Philly's skeptics, some of whom were their own fans, this was Kevin Patullo's masterpiece. The offense hasn't added up to the sum of its parts all season, and the unit didn't earn a lot of style points from Week 1 on. Sunday was merely more of the same.
Then there was the brief sideline exchange between coach Nick Sirianni and wide receiver A.J. Brown.
That moment would've been easier to dismiss and overlook if Brown hadn't cut a frustrated figure for much of the year.
Everything clicked for the Eagles as they embarked on a title run in 2024 despite a lot of the same conversations lingering in the background. Sirianni went from the hot seat to the Super Bowl championship podium.
Now, it's abundantly clear that something is broken in Philadelphia.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Monday that "mass changes" are expected to help spark the offense. The question is how far the turnover to the coaching staff and roster reaches.
