John Harbaugh Gives Update on Potential Landing Spots, Timeline to Choose Next HC Job

Zach BacharJan 10, 2026

John Harbaugh provided an update regarding his next stop after he was fired as head coach of the Baltimore Ravens on Tuesday.

"I just got off the phone with John Harbaugh," Fox Sports' Jay Glazer said Saturday (2:12 mark). "He said every team has reached out. He's not going to go and do that. He's going to narrow it down this weekend to about three or four teams and make his decision where he wants to go this week."

According to The Athletic's Ian O'Connor, New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen "has had direct contact with John Harbaugh and that those talks have been positive."

O'Connor added Schoen "has been a relentless, John Calipari-level recruiter on this one, which likely speaks to his willingness to work with [Harbaugh] on the roster."

Harbaugh has already been linked to several teams with current vacancies at head coach including the Giants, Cleveland Browns, Atlanta Falcons and Miami Dolphins.

Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports also reported that at least nine teams reached out to Harbaugh "in the hours after he was fired on Tuesday."

Another potential suitor is the Tennessee Titans, as The Athletic's Dianna Russini reported Saturday that Harbaugh was preparing to watch film on Titans quarterback Cam Ward along with Giants signal-caller Jaxson Dart.

It's easy to see why interest in Harbaugh is high, as his overall tenure with the Ravens was impressive despite a missed playoff appearance occurring during his final season.

He owned a 180-113 record with Baltimore, helping lead the team to 12 playoff appearances in his 18 seasons patrolling the sidelines. This included the Ravens' 2012 campaign in which they captured their second Super Bowl in franchise history.

Baltimore remained largely successful in the years leading up to his firing, as the team recorded a double-digit win total in each season from 2022-24.

The Ravens finished at 8-9 in 2025, failing to advance to the playoffs with a 26-24 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in their season finale. After Baltimore drove down the field for a potential game-winning field goal, kicker Tyler Loop ultimately couldn't convert from 44 yards out as time expired.

While Harbaugh doesn't appear to have a specific destination in mind just yet, he's expected to narrow down his list of choices soon.
