John Harbaugh Reportedly Felt 'Underappreciated' by Ravens, Latest NFL Rumors on HC

Adam WellsJan 10, 2026

John Harbaugh felt like his accomplishments as head coach of the Baltimore Ravens didn't get enough credit.

Per ESPN's Jamison Hensley and Jeremy Fowler, Harbaugh felt "underappreciated" at times during his 18 seasons with the Ravens.

The report noted that Harbaugh didn't view the Week 18 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers that determined the AFC North champion as a "must-win" to keep his job, but Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti "wasn't as engaged" with the coach over the final two weeks of the season.

It's unclear exactly what led Biscotti to make the coaching change, despite an excellent track record, but one thing that was emphasized to Hensley and Fowler by people in the Ravens organization was that Harbaugh never lost the locker room.

"Saying John lost the locker room is bulls--t," one person said.

One game in particular that was cited as an example that Harbaugh was still engaged was in Week 17 against the Green Bay Packers when Tyler Huntley was starting at quarterback because Lamar Jackson was out due to a back injury.

"There were moments late in the year when I wondered whether he still wants to do this anymore because the season was so crazy and relentless," one Ravens person said. "He still rallied us. That Green Bay game [Week 17] when we were almost eliminated, he had us ready to play despite the odds against us."

The Ravens won that game 41-24 to give themselves a chance to play for the division title in Week 18. Derrick Henry ran for 216 yards and four touchdowns in the victory.

Harbaugh was the second-longest tenured head coach in the NFL prior to his firing on Tuesday. He led the team to 12 playoff appearances in 18 seasons, including a victory in Super Bowl 47 during the 2012 season.

Despite the unceremonious end to his Baltimore tenure, Harbaugh has reportedly received significant interest from teams in the market for a new head coach.

Since Harbaugh's first season as head coach in 2008, the Ravens have the fourth-most wins in the NFL. His 180 career wins ranks 14th all-time among head coaches.
