John Harbaugh Rumors Reveals Possible HC Landing Spots, Giants 'Favorite' Emerging

Andrew PetersJan 6, 2026

John Harbaugh is out as the Baltimore Ravens' head coach, but it may not be long before he's back on the sidelines for an NFL team.

According to SNY's Connor Hughes, the New York Giants "have done a ton of preliminary research on" Harbaugh in anticipation of him being fired by the Ravens and hope to interview him.

Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reported that the Cleveland Browns "will likely be interested" in Harbaugh.

The decision from the Ravens to fire Harbaugh came as a shock to many, but it wasn't completely unexpected.

Though Harbaugh won a Super Bowl in 2012, he hasn't made it out of the AFC since then. The Ravens failed to make the playoffs for the first time since 2020 this year after losing to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday. According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, owner Steve Bisciotti "had grown frustrated with" Harbaugh's lack of postseason success in recent years.

The Athletic's Dianna Russini added that a "key pressure point" in Harbaugh's firing was his "refusal" to discuss firing offensive coordinator Todd Monken, who has been on staff since 2023.

While the end of Harbaugh's tenure in Baltimore wasn't great, he's still a proven winner and veteran head coach. The former NFL Coach of the Year has a 180-113 record and has only missed the playoffs six times since taking over in 2008.

It's easy to remember Harbaugh's shortcomings in the playoffs in recent years, but it was just two seasons ago that he was on the brink of reaching the Super Bowl as he led the Ravens to the AFC Championship game against the eventual champion Kansas City Chiefs.

Because of that proven success, plenty of teams reportedly are taking an interest in Harbaugh, so he likely won't be unemployed for long.
