'Coin Flip,' John Harbaugh's Future With Ravens Discussed by Insider amid NFL Rumors

Andrew PetersJan 5, 2026

The Baltimore Ravens will be absent from the playoffs for the first time since 2020 this season, and their struggles have led to questions about John Harbaugh's future with the organization.

Albert Breer of The MMQB said on the Dan Patrick Show that Harbaugh's future is "a coin flip" heading into the offseason.

"I think that's a little bit of a coin flip right now," Breer said (14:30 mark). "...I had people there tell me this is the best roster they've ever had going into the season. That level of expectation with the team, you've got a looming contract negotiation with Lamar Jackson. There's just a lot to sort through, and digging out from underneath the season there. I think that provokes those big picture questions."

Harbaugh has been the Ravens' head coach since 2008, and most of his years at the helm have been positive, including in 2012 when he won a Super Bowl. But Baltimore has failed to get over the hump of making it out of the AFC in recent years, even with a two-time MVP in Lamar Jackson under center.

Harbaugh has given the front office enough reason to believe him in recent years, but an 8-9 season in 2025 might be the final straw.
