How Many More Game Can LeBron James Miss Before He's Ineligible for NBA Awards?

Doric SamJan 7, 2026

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James has been a mainstay in the NBA awards cycle for two decades, but that run could come to an end this season.

James missed Wednesday night's game against the San Antonio Spurs due to left foot arthritis and right sciatica. The 41-year-old has already missed 16 games this season, and he will be ineligible for awards if he misses one more game.

James dropped 30 points, eight rebounds and eight assists in Tuesday night's 111-103 win over the New Orleans Pelicans. The Lakers want him healthy for the postseason, so it remains to be seen if they will let him play the second leg of a back-to-back.

James was first selected to an All-NBA team in 2005, earning second team honors in his sophomore season. In total, he has 13 first-team selections, four second-team selections and four third-team selections, making 21 total All-NBA selections in his 23-year career.

It's safe to say that James' main focus is chasing another NBA championship before his legendary career comes to an end, so he likely wouldn't mind missing out on NBA awards this season if it allows him to be at his best during the Lakers' playoff run.
