Commanders' Top OC Targets for Jayden Daniels After Kliff Kingsbury's Exit
Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels will have a new voice calling the plays in 2026.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the team mutually agreed to move on from offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury, ending his tenure after two seasons.
Thanks to the presence of Daniels, running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt and wide receiver Terry McLaurin, this figures to be an attractive vacancy.
These are three names worth considering for Washington.
Davis Webb

Davis Webb only moved into coaching in 2023 after a nondescript playing career in the NFL and has seen is stock quickly soar. Starting as the Denver Broncos' quarterbacks coach, he earned another title this season as he became the passing game coordinator.
While he doesn't deserve sole credit, Webb has played a role in Bo Nix exceeding expectations to this point. The 2024 first-round pick has thrown for 7,706 yards and 54 touchdowns in 34 starts.
Webb is destined to get a bigger job sooner or later, and this offseason is a great time to cash in after the Broncos went 14-3 and claimed the AFC's top seed.
One problem for the Commanders is that Webb may bypass the offensive coordinator step altogether. NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported in December he could get hired as a head coach.
Mike Kafka

Mike Kafka will reportedly interview with the New York Giants as they search for a new head coach. There's a chance he'll get the interim tag removed and become the permanent replacement for Brian Daboll.
The Giants' 2-5 record during his half-season run wasn't a ringing endorsement, though, and teams around the NFL may not be fully convinced, either.
Assuming New York makes an outside hire, a new head coach could prefer to bring in their own offensive coordinator. Should that happen, Washington needs to make a call to Kafka to sound him out.
The 38-year-old comes from the Andy Reid coaching tree, and he showed this year he can bring along a young passer. Jaxson Dart arrived ahead of schedule, finishing with 2,272 yards and 15 touchdowns to five interceptions in 14 appearances.
Kafka's experience coaching in the NFC East wouldn't hurt.
Todd Monken

Todd Monken remains on the Baltimore Ravens' coaching staff. Whether that stays the case moving forward is a little up in the air.
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported in December that "questions exist about the chemistry between Monken and quarterback Lamar Jackson." In addition, Derrick Henry's workload "has been a source of frustration at times, too."
Changes may come after Baltimore missed the playoffs and Jackson took a small step backward. The performance of the offense — the Ravens finished 16th in yards — might deal a blow to Monken's aspirations to become a head coach as well.
Should the 59-year-old become available, his time with Jackson would make him a great fit alongside Daniels.
