Yankees Rumors on Bichette, Bellinger and Trade Impact on Jazz Chisholm Jr., McMahon
The New York Yankees are reportedly doing their due diligence on a potential free-agent addition while also trying to retain one of their own.
The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal and Will Sammon reported that the Yankees "have checked in on" Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette while he's on the open market, but they also noted that re-signing outfielder Cody Bellinger "remains the team's top priority."
Bellinger is one of the most coveted players available in free agency this winter, as MLB Network's Jon Heyman recently reported that the Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants are all engaged with the veteran slugger, while the New York Mets are trying to outbid the Yankees to convince him to stay in the Big Apple. Joel Sherman of the New York Post also reported on Sunday that the Yankees made a second contract offer to Bellinger.

While adding Bichette would also bring some juice to the Yankees' lineup, Rosenthal and Sammon noted that they would have to make room for him by trading second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. or third baseman Ryan McMahon because they "do not envision Bichette at shortstop."
The Yankees are hoping to return to World Series contention next season, but they've had a relatively quiet winter so far. Fans will grow more anxious while the team continues to wait for Bellinger's decision, as the Yankees could lose out on some of the top free agents remaining.
