LeBron or Michael Jordan? Rich Paul Reveals Who He'd Pick to Take Final Shot in Video

Scott PolacekDec 24, 2025

Even Rich Paul, who is LeBron James' agent and the founder and CEO of Klutch Sports Group, would give the ball to Michael Jordan for the final shot of the game.

But have no fear, James fans. He still believes the King is the right choice for starting a team.

"If I'm starting a basketball team, I'm taking LeBron number 1 overall," he said on the Game Over With Max Kellerman and Rich Paul podcast (29:55 mark). "There's no if ands or buts about it. If I want someone to take, and I know LJ's statistics are off the charts with this as well, but if I want the single last shot, I'm taking Michael Jordan. No question about it."

In answering the question, Paul touched on some of the main talking points in the endless GOAT debates when it comes to Jordan and James.

With his bigger size, passing ability, and overall physicality and durability, it isn't hard to see why someone would give the nod to James in any such argument. But Jordan was always known for his ruthless scoring and ability to deliver in the biggest moments.

Whether it was The Shot against the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 1989 playoffs, his clutch shooting in the Flu Game during the 1997 NBA Finals against the Utah Jazz, a game-winning jumper earlier in that series against Utah or his famous final shot during Game 6 of the 1998 NBA Finals, some of the NBA's most iconic moments came from Jordan in the final seconds.

He even drilled a championship-winning jumper against Georgetown during his collegiate career at North Carolina.

Paul is 45 years old and grew up at a time when he would have seen Jordan establish himself as an almost mythical figure who was unstoppable as he was amassing a resume that included six championships, six NBA Finals MVP awards, five league MVPs and 10 scoring titles, among a number of other accolades.

Yet he also has a close relationship with James and seems to believe the future Hall of Famer is the answer to the question of who is the greatest basketball player in history.

Which is what makes his perspective on the debate so fascinating and layered.
