Wemby's Incredible Streak Finally Snapped, Where Does Spurs Star Rank in NBA History?
The San Antonio Spurs extended their win streak to four straight games with a 130-110 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday night, but star big man Victor Wembanyama wasn't able to keep his historic personal streak alive.
Wembanyama didn't record a block in Tuesday's win, ending his streak of 101 straight games with a swat. Per ESPN's Michael C. Wright, his streak was the third-longest in NBA history behind only Hall of Famers Patrick Ewing (145) and Dikembe Mutombo (116).

Wembanyama, who is still working his way back into form after missing time with a calf injury, played 23 minutes off the bench on Tuesday and finished with 12 points, five rebounds and three assists. Despite failing to record a block, he still averages 3.1 swats per game, which would lead the NBA once he meets the threshold for games played.
Tuesday's win marked the second time in the last 11 days that the Spurs (22-7) defeated the defending NBA champion Thunder (26-4). The two teams will face each other once again on Christmas Day as their rivalry continues to reach new heights.
"It feels like saying it's a rivalry would be a weird thing because it's something that builds naturally," Wembanyama said after Tuesday's win. "I didn't say that it's impossible that it can be [a rivalry] in the future. I hope it will be soon. But we're definitely getting closer. They're going to be locked in [on Christmas] more than any time before, probably. It's a resourceful team, but we're going to be there too."
Even without Wembanyama recording a block, San Antonio's defense put forth a dominant performance, forcing 15 turnovers by Oklahoma City. The Spurs had three players reach the 20-point mark, with Keldon Johnson (25), Stephon Castle (24) and Harrison Barnes (20) leading the way.
Wembanyama will certainly be motivated to get a new streak started when the Spurs and Thunder face off again.
