Why Steph Curry Thinks Warriors Are 'Not a Good Team Right Now' amid Losing Streak

The Golden State Warriors fell to 13-15 with Thursday's 99-98 loss to the Phoenix Suns, which was their third straight defeat.

"If you're gonna be a good team, you're able to overcome all of that," Curry said after he went 3-of-14 from the field, per Nick Friedell of The Athletic. "We're obviously not a good team right now because of what our record says and the fact that we found ourselves in these kind of positions."

Thursday's game was tied when Moses Moody fouled Jordan Goodwin with 0.4 seconds remaining. Goodwin made one of two free throws to win the game by a single point.

The sequence came after the Warriors overcame a 96-91 deficit in the final minute with four Curry free throws and a Jimmy Butler three-pointer. Golden State had a five-point possession when Curry made two free throws and Butler followed with the outside shot after a Dillon Brooks flagrant foul.

Yet it was all for nothing thanks to the late foul by Moody.

If there's any silver lining for the Warriors, it is the fact there is still plenty of season remaining through just 28 games. The future Hall of Famer believes some adversity at this point could pay off down the line.

"I do like the fact that it's challenging us and giving us a sense of urgency," Curry said of the struggles. "Some years you learn these lessons while you're winning, and then it catches up to you. But if we're going to do anything relevant this year, feeling this pain right now and searching a little bit could be a good thing if we do something about it, so that's the moment we're in right now."

Golden State is still in position to make the postseason at ninth in the Western Conference. While it is 4.5 games behind the sixth-seeded Minnesota Timberwolves if it wants to avoid the play-in tournament, it at least has some breathing room with the entire postseason picture.

As long as Curry is on the court, the Warriors will be dangerous in any postseason format. But they have to figure out how to put their recent struggles in the rearview mirror as the campaign continues.
