Mike Brown Gives Honest Quote on How Knicks Can Stop Wemby in NBA Cup Finals vs. Spurs
New York Knicks head coach Mike Brown joked about preparing to face San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama in the 2025 NBA Cup final.
Brown detailed his unique plan when asked by reporters Tuesday if he received any intel from Knicks forward Guerschon Yabusele, Wembanyama's France national teammate, on the All-Star center.
"I think his intel is the same as anyone playing Wemby the night before," Brown said. "You go to church, get down on your knees and say a prayer to the good lord."

Wembanyama has been dominant on both sides of the floor to open his 2025-26 campaign, averaging 25.8 points and 12.6 rebounds to go along with 3.5 blocks per game. He's shooting 50.4 percent from the field and 35.6 percent from three-point territory.
The 21-year-old is also coming off an impressive performance during San Antonio's 111-109 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA Cup semifinals.
Wembanyama finished with 22 points, nine rebounds and two blocks in just 21 minutes. He also came off the bench, as the contest also marked his return from a 12-game absence due to a calf strain.
While Wembanyama's role is still going to be reduced against New York as he continues to put the calf issues behind him, it isn't difficult to imagine him putting together another stellar performance.
He recorded 32.0 points per game in three career appearances against the Knicks heading into Tuesday's action, representing his highest scoring average against any team in the NBA.
Wembanyama's clashes with New York have been memorable, highlighted by an overtime victory during his rookie year in which he scored 40 points and pulled down 20 rebounds. The Spurs were still able to win despite a career-high 61 points from Knicks star Jalen Brunson.
Wembanyama also scored 42 points in Madison Square Garden on Christmas Day last season, but New York emerged victorious largely due to 41 points from forward Mikal Bridges.
Tip-off between the Knicks and Spurs is on Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. ET.
