MLB Prospect Big Board Ahead of 2026 Draft Lottery at Winter Meetings
The 2026 MLB draft order will be decided on Tuesday afternoon at the winter meetings with the fourth annual draft lottery.
The Chicago White Sox (27.7%), Minnesota Twins (22.2%) and Pittsburgh Pirates (16.8%) have the best odds of securing the No. 1 overall pick, with the 18 teams that missed the postseason all eligible to secure the top selection, and the top six picks determined by the lottery.
The Colorado Rockies are ineligible to receive a lottery pick in 2026 after picking inside the lottery in 2024 and 2025, while the Los Angeles Angels and Washington Nationals are also ineligible as teams that pay into revenue sharing and had a lottery pick a year ago.
Ahead of the 2026 draft lottery, we've taken an overview at the upcoming 2026 class, with a list of the top 50 prospects and a position-by-position breakdown of the best available players at each position.
Note: A 2026 mock draft will be published on Wednesday morning to reflect the official draft order.

3. C Ryder Helfrick, Arkansas
4. C Andrew Costello, Cathedral Prep (PA)
5. C Carson Tinney, Texas
Top Prospect Snapshot: Vahn Lackey, Georgia Tech
After a forgettable freshman campaign and a lackluster showing in the Northwoods League, Lackey broke through in a big way during his sophomore season, hitting .347/.421/.500 with 21 extra-base hits and 18 steals in 60 games. A terrific athlete for a catcher with the chance to be an elite defender, he was the starting catcher for the Collegiate National Team over the summer.

8. 1B Dominic Santarelli, St. Joseph Catholic Academy (WI)
9. 1B Myles Bailey, Florida State
10. 1B Mulivai Levu, UCLA
Top Prospect Snapshot: Ace Reese, Mississippi State
Reese is one of the nation's top returning sluggers after hitting .352/.422/.718 with 18 doubles, 21 home runs and 66 RBI in 57 games last season. The 6'4", 220-pound masher has some of the best raw power in the 2026 class and enough hit tool to believe he can maximize it, the question is whether he can stick at third base at the next level.

20. SS Ethan Bass, Glenbrook North HS (IL)
Top Prospect Snapshot: Roch Cholowsky, UCLA
The consensus top four prospects in the 2026 draft class are all shortstops, and Cholowsky is the best of the bunch and one of the best all-around shortstop prospects to come along in years. He hit .353/.480/.710 with 19 doubles, 23 home runs, 74 RBI and more walks (45) than strikeouts (30) in 66 games as a sophomore, and he checks all the boxes to be a standout defensive shortstop.

Top Prospect Snapshot: Derek Curiel, LSU
Curiel hit .345/.470/.519 with 20 doubles, seven home runs and 55 RBI in 68 games as a true freshman while helping to lead LSU to a College World Series title. He is draft-eligible as a sophomore, and his 60-grade hit tool and promising defensive profile in center field should make him one of the top college hitters off the board.

18. RHP Jason DeCaro, North Carolina
19. RHP Cooper Sides, Orange Lutheran (CA)
20. RHP Owen Kramkowski, Arizona
Top Prospect Snapshot: Liam Peterson, Florida
With a strong 6'5", 205-pound frame, a fastball that touches the upper 90s and three quality offspeed pitches, Peterson has the potential to be a frontline starter at the next level. He made 31 starts during his first two seasons at Florida, and logged a 4.28 ERA with 96 strikeouts in 69.1 innings last spring while trimming his walk rate from 14.6 to 10.5 percent. Another step forward with his command could make him the first arm off the board.

8. LHP Sean Duncan, Terry Fox SS (Canada)
9. LHP Shane Sdao, Texas A&M
10. LHP Ethan Kleinschmit, Oregon State
Top Prospect Snapshot: LHP Carson Bolemon, Southside Christian School (SC)
With a fastball, curveball and slider that all projected as plus pitches and the makings of a quality changeup, Bolemon has one of the most impressive arsenals of any pitcher in the 2026 class. He also offers clean mechanics and a projectable 6'4", 210-pound frame, putting him right alongside fellow southpaw Gio Lopez as the top prep arms in the draft.
