Celtics' Jayson Tatum Shares Dream to Play with Son Deuce in NBA, 'Would Be Cool'
Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum shared on the Morris Code podcast with ex-NBA forwards (and twins) Markieff and Marcus Morris that it "would be cool" to play in the league with his son, Deuce Tatum, someday.
"He turns 8, I'm 27, it's like, 'Man, can I play 10 more years?'" Tatum said, per Skyler Caruso of People Magazine. "I can easily do that. I mean, if it were to work out, that would be cool."
Tatum can certainly hang in the NBA for a decade or more. Unfortunately, he is currently missing this season while he rehabs from a torn Achilles suffered last May, but star players have come back from the injury, remained in the league and excelled, most notably 37-year-old Kevin Durant and 35-year-old Klay Thompson.
Tatum has been fantastic through eight NBA seasons, averaging 23.6 points and 7.3 rebounds per game while making four straight All-NBA teams. He's also led the Celtics to a pair of Eastern Conference titles and an NBA championship.
So it wouldn't be a surprise to see him return to form after a year off and enjoy a great stretch post-injury. How long he plays in the league remains to be seen, but he very well could hang around for 10 or more years as he believes.
