The 1 Thing About Kingston Flemings Reportedly Drawing Concern from NBA Draft Scouts

Houston freshman guard Kingston Flemings has burst onto the scene as a potential lottery pick in the 2026 NBA draft, but there's still room for improvement.

In his latest mock draft, The Athletic's Sam Vecenie projected Flemings to be selected by the Dallas Mavericks with the No. 7 pick. He explained the facets of his game that he will need to work on if he wants to rise up the board.

"Scouts want to see more of him playing and making decisions out of ball screens, as many of his best moments have come attacking closeouts off the ball. His willingness to jump before making decisions as a passer has raised concerns," Vecenie stated. "But his tools are real and exciting."

B/R's Jonathan Wasserman has a similar projection for Flemings, predicting that he would be selected by the Charlotte Hornets with the No. 8 pick in his latest mock draft.

Flemings is averaging 15.3 points, 3.6 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.3 steals for the Cougars, who have a 7-1 record and are ranked No. 8 in the AP Top 25. He's shot a blistering 60.8 percent from the field and 52.4 percent from three-point range, boosting his draft stock in a big way.

In addition to Flemings' impressive statistics, he also has intangibles that has evaluators excited about his future in the NBA.

"Flemings' speed has been wildly impressive," Vecenie stated. "He looks like he's in fast-forward while other players are in regular speed."

If Flemings can improve upon the holes in his game, there's a chance he could work his way up to being a top-five pick in the 2026 draft. His next chance to showcase his skills will come on Saturday when Houston hosts Florida State (5-3) in the Houston Hoops Showdown.
