The Michigan State men's basketball team is turning back the clock.

On Monday, the Spartans revealed on social media they are bringing back a uniform look from the 2000s. "Our first Nike uniform, 25 years later" one of the posts said:

The one constant with the Michigan State program that connects those early 2000s years to the current day is head coach Tom Izzo, who has led the program since the 1995-96 campaign.

The early 2000s marked a dominant time for the program, which won the 2000 national championship and reached the Final Four in 2001. The 2001 Final Four was its third consecutive appearance in the national semifinals, further cementing Izzo as one of the game's best coaches.

Izzo's Spartans returned to the Final Four in 2005, 2009, 2010, 2015 and 2019.

Fans will surely be excited to see the classic look, especially during an important week of home games. Michigan State hosts Iowa in its Big Ten opener on Tuesday and then welcomes Duke for a high-profile showdown on Saturday.

The Spartans are 7-0 to start the campaign and already have wins over Arkansas, Kentucky and North Carolina. They are No. 7 in the country with the chance to move up the rankings if they can defeat the Hawkeyes and Blue Devils in front of what figures to be a raucous crowd.

If they do so, it will position them for a better seed come Selection Sunday as they attempt to reach the Final Four just like the team that wore these now throwback uniforms.
