AP College Basketball Poll 2025 Week 5 Rankings Released with Top Risers and Fallers
Nobody had more to be thankful for during Feast Week than Michigan.
Thanks to blowout wins over San Diego State, Auburn and Gonzaga, Michigan rose from No. 7 to third in the newest Associated Press Top 25 poll.
St. John's, on the other hand, moved in the opposite direction after going 1-2 during the Players Era Festival. The Red Storm, who were fifth in the preseason poll, are now down in 23rd.

AP voters were clearly not fully sold on Michigan after the Wolverines on their first four games. Wake Forest pushed them to overtime and they edged past TCU days later.
Based on what transpired in Las Vegas, those doubts have vanished for now.
No team had beaten ranked opponents by 30-plus points in back-to-back games before Michigan pulled it off last week, per ESPN Insights. The Wolverines hammered Auburn 102-72 and then swept Gonzaga aside 101-61.
"We got absolutely throttled, so I've never been involved with anything like that, so this is going to be a great challenge and learning experience for me," Zags coach Mark Few told reporters.
Through seven games, Dusty May has five players averaging double figures in points: Yaxel Lendeborg, Morez Johnson Jr., Roddy Gayle Jr., Trey McKenney and Aday Mara. The defense is holding opponents to 34.4 percent shooting, the second-lowest rate in Division I.
Championships aren't won in November. Michigan is at least building a resume to be considered the best in the country.
Another school who had a strong week is only a few hours away from the Wolverines.
Michigan State overwhelmed North Carolina in a 74-58 win on Thanksgiving Day.
Jeremy Fears Jr. and Carson Cooper combined for 33 points, while Jaxon Kohler had a double-double (10 points and 11 rebounds) in the victory. The Tar Heels sorely missed Seth Trimble as they had little support for the trio of Caleb Wilson, Henri Veesaar and Luka Bogavac.
The Spartans have now beaten Arkansas, Kentucky and North Carolina outside of their conference. A lot of eyes will be on Saturday's battle between them and 8-0 Duke to see whether their perfect start is a bit of a mirage.
The Blue Devils will also serve as a barometer for where Florida actually stands.
The Gators turned the ball over 19 times and got out-muscled inside in their loss to TCU. The Horned Frogs attempted 33 free throws and got more than half of their total scoring output (44 points) inside the paint.
"I thought we had some really poor mental execution of the scout," Florida coach Todd Golden told reporters after the game. "We got cut by [Jace] Posey a number of times. He's a guy that we thought we made it pretty clear what he's best at, which is rim pressure and cutting – a guy that hasn't taken a three – and he killed us.
"We got cut a couple other times, missed some block-outs late. Just did some things that are controllable, and those are the areas we try to focus on. Again, it goes back to the turnovers and not being tough enough limiting their opportunities in the second half."
The Gators meet Duke on Tuesday night in Durham, North Carolina, and then have a neutral site matchup with UConn in New York City on Dec. 9.
The next two weeks will reveal a lot about Golden's squad.
