"How did you get this through security?" the Pope joked (via MLB.com's Brian Murphy).
He also received a pair of White Sox slippers and socks.
The MLB team supported by Pope Leo XIV, born Robert Prevost, became evident when a photograph surfaced of him wearing White Sox attire while attending their 2005 World Series clash with the Houston Astros.
Fox spent 14 of his 19 MLB seasons with the White Sox, suiting up in 2,115 games for the team from 1950-63.
He earned 15 All-Star nods and three Gold Glove awards, securing American League MVP honors in 1959. That year, Fox hit .306 with 34 doubles and 70 RBI while helping the White Sox make a World Series appearance.
He still ranks No. 2 on Chicago's all-time hits list with 2,470, while his 104 triples are tied for the most in franchise history.
Fox eventually retired in 1965 and was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1997.
