AJ Dybantsa Compares Himself To Hall of Famer, Talks NBA Stars He Watched Growing Up
BYU freshman AJ Dybantsa compared himself to NBA Hall of Famer Tracy McGrady during an appearance on Monday's NBA Today.
"When I first heard [that comparison]—because I never really watched T-Mac film—when I went back and watched it I was like, 'Yeah, that kinda look like me.'"
He also called Kevin Durant his "favorite player of all time" and said he watched LeBron James, Kobe Bryant and of course the Boston Celtics duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown "because I'm from that area."
His college career has certainly gotten off to a strong start. The freshman phenom is averaging 19.8 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game for BYU, leading the Cougars to a 4-1 record. He's making his case to be the top overall pick in next year's NBA draft, though Kansas freshman Darryn Peterson (21.5 PPG, 3.0 APG) will have a say in that as well.
