Jets on Wrong Side of History in Loss to Ravens After Justin Fields Benched for Tyrod

Scott PolacekNov 23, 2025

The Baltimore Ravens just keep winning.

Baltimore defeated the New York Jets 23-10 in Sunday's contest at M&T Bank Stadium to improve to 6-5 overall with a fifth consecutive win. It is firmly a factor in the AFC playoff picture at this point following a disappointing start to the season.

The Jets certainly are not and fell to 2-9 on the campaign. Benching Justin Fields for Tyrod Taylor didn't do anything to change their fortunes as they continue to play out the string on a lost season.

Derrick Henry scored Baltimore's two touchdowns, while Lamar Jackson was relatively quiet at 13-of-23 for 153 yards, zero touchdowns and zero interceptions. The Ravens defense also stymied Taylor, who was 17-of-28 for 222 yards, one touchdown and one interception.

Jackson having zero interceptions meant New York made history by not getting a single pick through the first 11 games of the campaign.

Social media had plenty of reaction to the Jets' performance:

All eyes were on the quarterback position for different reasons.

The Jets benched Fields for Taylor on one side, while Jackson was trying to make sure his opponent made history on the other. ESPN's Rich Cimini noted New York became the first team in NFL history to go the first 11 games in a season without a single interception.

While that Jets defense didn't get an interception in the first half, it certainly set the tone by allowing three points before intermission. Baltimore may have Jackson and Derrick Henry, but it punted on its first three possessions while falling behind 7-3 heading into the second half.

Taylor outplayed Jackson in the early going and gave the visitors the lead with a touchdown strike to John Metchie III in one of the only offensive highlights of the opening 30 minutes.

Halftime was good for the Ravens, who came out of the locker room and marched right down the field for a go-ahead Henry touchdown. They also stopped the Jets on a fourth down to get favorable field position on the ensuing possession to set up yet another Henry touchdown to get some breathing room.

It seemed like the Jets were going to battle back, though, with a drive deep into Baltimore territory in the fourth quarter until Breece Hall's fumble inside the 5-yard line ended any realistic comeback chances.

It was more of the same for a New York team that has been dreadful throughout the season and unable to take advantage of opportunities in winnable contests. Whether Fields or Taylor under center, there just isn't enough talent on the roster or on the quarterback depth chart to compete with the best teams the AFC has to offer.

As for Baltimore, it will take plenty of momentum into its Thanksgiving showdown with the Cincinnati Bengals.
