Kawhi Leonard Reportedly Sent Home, Latest on Clippers Star's Injury and Timeline for Evaluation
Los Angles Clippers star Kawhi Leonard will reportedly be sent home from the team's ongoing road trip and be evaluated Wednesday due to left knee irritation.
NBA insider Chris Haynes reported Sunday that the injury is "not seen as anything serious."
Leonard has so far averaged 28.2 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.2 steals through 30 appearances this season.
The forward missed 10 straight games in November with what Clippers president of basketball operations Lawrence Frank described as an ankle sprain along with a "significant" foot sprain.
After a 3-3 start to the season with Leonard in the lineup, the Clippers went 2-8 while Leonard was sidelined by his last injury.
The Clippers have been much better since his return with wins in 12 of their last 14 games.
Still, climbing back up the standings will be more difficult now that the Clips will be spending the rest of the 2025-26 campaign without Bradley Beal, who underwent season-ending surgery on a hip fracture in November.
James Harden, who saw his usage spike when both Leonard and Harden were absent earlier this season, will likely once more take on a larger offensive workload should Leonard miss any more time.
After losing Leonard for 45 games last season due to a lingering knee injury, the Clippers will hope to see a healthier season from their star forward down the stretch.
