Watch Olivier Rioux Make CBB History with 1st Career Point for Florida vs. Merrimack
Florida redshirt freshman center Olivier Rioux, the tallest basketball player in college basketball history at 7'9", scored his first career point on Friday in his team's 80-45 home win over Merrimack.
Rioux entered the game with 2:26 remaining and was fouled about a minute later. He went to the free throw line for two and missed the front end but sunk the second. Rioux also grabbed his first-ever rebound before the final buzzer sounded.
Rioux officially became the tallest player to make an appearance in college basketball history on Nov. 6 when he took the court at the tail end of his team's 104-64 home win over North Florida. Now he's the tallest player to ever score a point.
The No. 10 Gators moved to 4-1 with the win and will now play TCU in San Diego at the Rady Children's Invitational on Thursday at 3 p.m. ET.
