Keon Coleman Benched for 2nd Straight Game, Top NFL Landing Spots for Bills WR

Andrew PetersNov 20, 2025

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Keon Coleman will once be a healthy scratch this week.

Per ESPN's Alaina Getzenberg, Coleman won't play in Thursday's contest against the Houston Texans. He was previously benched during Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers because he was late to a team meeting.

If the Bills decide to move on from Coleman this offseason after another benching, here are a few potential landing spots.

Tennessee Titans

The Titans have who they hope will be their quarterback of the future in Cam Ward, but now they need to give him some options to throw to.

One such option could be Coleman. While he may not be a No. 1 receiver on many NFL teams, he would at least give Tennessee some additional help as it looks to bolster its passing attack.

Coleman is also on an affordable rookie deal, so adding him wouldn't be too much of a financial burden.

Carolina Panthers

The Panthers have seemingly struck gold with rookie wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan, who has 748 receiving yards and four touchdowns.

But after McMillan, Carolina's options are pretty limited, as he's recorded 24 percent of the receptions for the team this year. If the Panthers want to bolster their receiving core, Coleman could give them another threat alongside McMillan.

Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins once owned one of the best passing attacks in the NFL, but things have since changed.

Former All-Pro receiver Tyreek Hill suffered a brutal season-ending knee injury, and he's now reportedly expected to be released by the team. If that happens, they'll have Jaylen Waddle as a No. 1 option but will need some more support.

Coleman wouldn't replace the production of Hill when he's at his best, but he would at least give them some support.

Bills head coach Doug McDermott addressed Coleman's benching after the 44-32 win over the Bucs.

"It is disappointing [Coleman was in a situation to be disciplined again], but I still believe in the young man, and we get to a certain point and I've gotta do something," McDermott said. "I try and give the guys some — a kind of a strike approach. Hey, you get a chance to show your teammates that's not really who you are. And then, when it happens again, then I step in. So, I believe he will learn from it. He takes it seriously, and he will move forward in a way of growing from this, and that's the whole goal."

Coleman also said that he needs to improve his off the field issues.

"I mean, I knew that," Coleman said on when he realized he was going to be inactive. "S---, you can't keep doing it. You can't make those type of mistakes. You're a professional."

McDermott said Tuesday that he appreciated Coleman taking accountability, adding that it "takes time" to earn back the trust of the coaching staff.

"I'm aware of how he handled it more publicly, and I appreciate that and respect that," coach Sean McDermott said on Tuesday. "And now it's again, one day at a time, and earning the trust and respect of the teammates. And that takes time, so that each day that goes by, you check 'em off as wins, trust builds. So, that's the important piece of it."

Coleman, the 33rd overall pick in 2024, has recorded 32 receptions for 330 yards and three touchdowns in nine games.

Disciplinary issues have now cost Coleman a significant amount of time. Before being benched last week, he had also been benched for a drive against the New England Patriots and was benched during the first quarter of a game last year, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
