Report: Biggest Spenders in Men's CBB 🤑
After opening the year with a loss to Arizona, Florida has won three straight games, most recently defeating Miami 82-68 on Sunday. The Gators are now ranked No. 10 in the AP Top 25 after starting the year at No. 3.
Florida won its third national championship in program history last season with an impressive run through the NCAA tournament that included a win over the back-to-back champion UConn along the way. The Gators defeated Houston 65-63 in the championship game after overcoming a 12-point second-half deficit.
On Tuesday, Florida head coach Todd Golden and associate head coach Carlin Hartman surprised Golden State Warriors rookie Will Richard with his championship ring before the team's road matchup against the Orlando Magic. Associate head coach Korey McCray also surprised Utah Jazz rookie Walter Clayton Jr. with his championship ring that day.
"It was special," Richard said before Tuesday's game, per The Athletic's Nick Friedell. "I ain't seen (Golden) in a minute, a few months, it was good to see him. Coach (Carlin) Hartman kind of took me under his wing. Both of them poured a lot into me at Florida so it was special to have them here."
The Gators will be back in action on Friday as they seek their fourth straight win when Merrimack (2-3) comes to town.
