Will Jaxson Dart Play This Week? Latest Updates on Giants QB's Status vs. Lions
New York Giants interim coach Mike Kafka told reporters rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart could be cleared from concussion protocol as soon as Thursday following practice depending on what doctors say.
New York is scheduled to face the Detroit Lions on Sunday.
Dart was forced to miss New York's Week 11 matchup against the Green Bay Packers due to a concussion suffered the week before, marking the first time he missed a game since being promoted to the starting quarterback role in Week 4. However, Kafka told reporters Wednesday that Dart was cleared to participate in non-contact practice and could be in line to play against the Lions in Week 12 if he doesn't suffer a setback.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Veteran signal-caller Jameis Winston started in Dart's place against the Packers and threw for 201 yards while adding a rushing touchdown in a 27-20 loss, which dropped the Giants' record to 2-9 and extended their losing streak to five straight games.
The No. 25 pick in the 2025 draft, Dart has shown enough promise to fuel optimism that he can be New York's franchise quarterback. In his nine appearances this season, he's completed 62.7 percent of his passes for 1,417 yards, 10 touchdowns and three interceptions while adding 317 rushing yards and seven more touchdowns on the ground.
If Dart is forced to sit out another week, the Giants will likely stick with Winston as they continue to trudge toward the end of another rebuild year.
