Plenty of Teams Interested in Kyle Schwarber
2 of 4
Kyle Schwarber delivered 56 home runs and 132 RBI for the Philadelphia Phillies in 2025, so it is no surprise that the 32-year-old designated hitter is set to be one of the most coveted free agents this off-season, nor is it surprising that several teams are interested in acquiring his services.
ESPN's Jeff Passan reported that the incumbent team, as well as the Boston Red Sox, New York Mets, Toronto Blue Jays, Detroit Tigers, and Pittsburgh Pirates, are all interested in acquiring the slugger.
He added that his annual average value could be as high as $30 million, but that he will not receive greater than a five-year deal.
It is not surprising to see the interest in Schwarber. If this year's postseason performance by the heavy-hitting Jays is any indication, offense is as important to the pursuit of a World Series in this era as pitching.
At his best, the Indiana University Bloomington product delivers that.
Most intriguing of the teams named by Passan are the Pirates, who are notorious non-spenders. Whether it is a renewed desire to win, a determination to convince Cy Young winner Paul Skenes that they are invested in him and his future with the team, or smoke and mirrors, it is a welcome sign to see one of the most storied franchises in the game event mentioned among the high-profile squads looking into acquiring Schwarber.
Ultimately, though, Schwarber is so beloved in Philadelphia, both by fans and teammates alike, that the Phillies should be considered the favorite to re-sign him until something more concrete than mere interest from the other teams emerges.
Prediction: Schwarber stays put in Philadelphia
Where Will Kyle Tucker Play in 2025?
3 of 4
Passan also reported that the Yankees, Dodgers, Giants, and Orioles are potential landing spots for Kyle Tucker.
The outfielder is fresh off his first season in Chicago, in which he hit 22 home runs, drove in 73 runs, and stole 25 bases, all while missing 26 games due to a calf injury.
His mix of power and speed at the plate, coupled with his superb defensive play in the outfield, make him arguably the most complete player available.
The Yankees and Dodgers are intriguing because they are already World Series contenders and Tucker would only further enhance their odds of winning a championship.
Tucker would be a significant upgrade for a Giants team desperate to return to relevance and the Orioles are intriguing because he would bring a World Series resume to a team of young budding stars, run by the general manager who drafted him.
One team not expected to sign him? The incumbent Cubs, per Passan.
Prediction: Tucker heads west to Los Angeles
Bo Bichette's Potential Landing Spots
4 of 4
Despite concerns about his defensive abilities, a need for starting shortstop help may land him outside of Toronto.
Passan reported that, other than the Blue Jays, two potential landing spots for the second-generation player include the Atlanta Braves and Detroit Tigers.
Nick Allen played 135 games at the position for Atlanta in 2025, hitting just .221 with 22 RBI and no home runs. Javier Báez was an All-Star in but Bichette's hitting would be an upgrade at the position.
Passan noted that the Mets and Phillies are not in the market for a shortstop but if Bichette was willing to switch positions and play at second, they would almost certainly be interested in signing him.
Bichette played in 136 games in 2025, hitting .311, with 94 RBI and 18 home runs. He accumulated an .840 OPS and in the World Series, he was even better, hitting for .348 and driving in six runs.
His offensive ability is elite and for that reason, he will be a hot commodity.
If, that is, Toronto does not lock him up long-term first.
Prediction: Bichette re-signs with Toronto
