NFL Draft 2026 Scouting Report for Ole Miss QB Trinidad Chambliss

Damian ParsonDec 15, 2025

Trinidad Chambliss rose from the bench and emerged as one of the SEC's best playmaking quarterbacks.

Chambliss is a dual-threat quarterback. He excels at using his legs to stress defenses as a runner and passer. His creativity raises the offensive playcalling.

He began his collegiate career at Ferris State as a former 0-star recruit. He led the Bulldogs to their third national title in 2024. After four years and 25 games played for the Bulldogs, Chambliss transferred to Ole Miss, initially slated to be the backup until an injury cleared the way for him to assume the starting job.

Where He Wins

1 of 4
South Carolina v Ole Miss

- Dual-threat playmaking and extending plays with legs. Chambliss creates second reaction throws by escaping the pocket and breaking the defensive containment.

- Throwing off play action and RPO concepts. The former Ferris Bulldog identifies the first read off the run action and delivers the football—his ball fakes and handling force second-level defenders to take false steps.

- Chambliss possesses good arm strength, equipped with velocity and zip for short and intermediate throws. He displays the ability to power passes past underneath defenders.

- Usage in short yardage situations, running QB power and draw concepts to convert and move the chains.

Areas of Improvement

2 of 4
Ole Miss v Oklahoma

- Chambliss is a shorter/undersized quarterback, which leads to issues seeing the field inside of a muddy pocket. His passes are susceptible to being batted down at the line of scrimmage by defensive linemen.

- Poor use of eye manipulation to look defenders off and move them. He stares down initial reads, making it easy for defenders to read his eyes and jump into throwing lanes. Chambliss must work through his progressions more quickly to find the open receiver.

- Chambliss struggles with post-snap coverage rotations and disguises. He can be outsmarted by dropping rushers into coverage. He does not confirm the defender's positioning before deciding whether to throw. This leads to turnover-worthy plays and testing compromised windows. Zone defenders have tricked him into making dangerous throws by masking their coverage responsibilities.

- Ole Miss's starting QB does not have strong pre-snap recognition. He needs to make protection checks and calls to account for simulated pressure looks. Typically, he turns and checks the cards from the staff on the sideline to make any pre-snap adjustments. This is not an NFL process and will need to learn/adapt to the next level.

- When facing pressure, Chambliss brings his eyes down to the rush and away from the routes down the field. He bails the pocket too quickly, not allowing routes to develop. The NFL is a timing-and-rhythm game; roughly 80% of the time, quarterbacks will need to adjust and mesh their skill set with the league's play style.
