Giants Owner, GM Joe Schoen Reportedly Won't Talk to Media After Brian Daboll Firing

Andrew PetersNov 10, 2025

Following head coach Brian Daboll's firing on Monday, fans reportedly won't get answers from the New York Giants ownership or general manager Joe Schoen.

Per The Athletic's Dan Duggan, the Giants' owners and Schoen won't be available for interviews this week. Duggan added that there's "no word" on when Schoen will speak to the media about the firing.

Though ownership won't be made available for interviews, president John Mara and chairman Steve Tisch released a joint statement on Monday:

"We spoke this morning about the direction of our franchise on the field, and we have decided that, at this time, it is in our best interest to make a change at the head coaching position. The past few seasons have been nothing short of disappointing, and we have not met our expectations for this franchise. We understand the frustrations of our fans, and we will work to deliver a significantly improved product. We appreciate Coach Daboll for his contributions to our organization. We wish the Daboll family all the best in the future."

Daboll's firing came after the Giants lost their fourth consecutive game on Sunday to drop to 2-8 on the season.

New York showed some promise of a turnaround season after wins over the Los Angeles Chargers and Philadelphia Eagles, but it hasn't done anything else to improve in recent weeks.

Daboll took over in New York in 2022 and had a solid start, going 9-7-1 to reach the playoffs and advance to the divisional round for the first time since 2011. After that, the Giants went 6-11 in 2023 before finishing 3-14 a season ago.

While New York is moving on from Daboll, Schoen reportedly will keep his job, per The Athletic's Dianna Russini. Defensive coordinator Shane Bowen will also stay in his current role, and offensive coordinator Mike Kafka will take over as interim head coach.

The Giants will face the Green Bay Packers this week in Kafka's first game at the helm.
