The New York Giants fired head coach Brian Daboll on Monday and named offensive coordinator Mike Kafka the team's interim head coach.

ESPN's Adam Schefter first reported the news.

The decision to cut ties with Daboll doesn't come as a major surprise, as his job security was reportedly in question during the 2024 season. Now, the Giants have moved on from him after compiling a 2-8 record during their 2025 campaign.

Daboll will end his time coaching the Giants with a 20-40-1 overall record.

The 50-year-old's stint in New York started off on a high note, finishing with a 9-7-1 record in 2022 before advancing to the divisional round of the playoffs.

The Giants failed to build on the momentum from Daboll's inaugural season, though. They posted a 6-11 record in 2023 before putting together a disheartening 3-14 finish in 2024. New York ranked No. 30 and No. 31 in scoring offense during each year, respectively.

Free-agent addition Russell Wilson started at quarterback for the Giants to open the 2025 season, but the veteran was benched in favor of rookie passer Jaxson Dart following an 0-3 start.

Dart has thrown for 1,417 yards, 10 touchdowns and three interceptions, production that's ahead of where a lot of people expected him to be at this point.

While the first-year passer showed promise under center, it ultimately wasn't enough to convince New York to retain Daboll.
