Kneeland's agent, Jon Perzley, released a statement relayed by NFL Network's Mike Garafolo:

"We are deeply saddened by the tragic news of the passing of Cowboys' Marshawn Kneeland," the NFL said in a statement. "Our thoughts and prayers are with his girlfriend Catalina, family, friends and his teammates. We have been in contact with the Cowboys and have offered support and counseling resources."

Frisco Police released a statement regarding Kneeland's death:

After getting selected by Dallas in the second round of the 2024 NFL draft, Kneeland was in his second NFL season.

Kneeland starred collegiately at Western Michigan University. He spent five years with the Broncos, recording a total of 13 sacks and 27.5 tackles for loss, which put him on the NFL radar.

The Cowboys used the No. 56 overall pick in the 2024 draft on Kneeland, and he primarily served as a reserve pass-rusher as a rookie, starting one of the 11 games he appeared in. He recorded 14 tackles, two tackles for loss, one fumble recovery and one pass defended.

Kneeland played in seven of the Cowboys' nine games this season, starting three of them. He registered 12 tackles and three tackles for loss, and he notched his first career sack against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 1.

This past Monday, Kneeland played in the Cowboys' 27-17 loss to the Arizona Cardinals, seeing action on 25.4 percent of the team's defensive snaps.

Kneeland scored his first career touchdown in the game, recovering a blocked punt in the end zone.
