Devin Booker Wants to Spend Entire NBA Career with Suns, 'It's Something Special'

Paul KasabianNov 4, 2025

Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker wants to spend his entire NBA career with the team that once selected the ex-Kentucky star with the 13th overall pick in the 2015 NBA draft

Booker made those remarks prior to the Suns' road game on Tuesday night against the Golden State Warriors and Stephen Curry, who is playing in his 17th NBA season, all with the Dubs.

"You know it because there's not many," Booker said following his team's Tuesday shootaround, per Nick Friedell of The Athletic in reference to the lack of players who suit up for just one team over their NBA careers.

"So I know he holds a special place in everybody's heart here in the Bay. And I feel a similar type of love in Phoenix. It's something special. It's kind of hard to explain, but there's a different type of love that comes with it. I wouldn't want it any other way."

Booker has played his entire 11-year NBA career with the Suns. He's a four-time All-Star and two-time All-NBA player.

Booker withstood some tough seasons on the Suns in the first half of his career. The team notably finished no better than 24-58 over his first four campaigns. However, Booker hung tough, steadily improved and served an invaluable role in the team's early-2020s success.

Of note, the Suns reached the NBA Finals in 2021, marking the first time Phoenix made the championship round in 28 seasons. Phoenix also won 64 games and earned the Western Conference's No. 1 seed the following season before losing in the second round to the Dallas Mavericks.

Phoenix moved into a new era a few years ago when the team surrounded Booker with Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal to form a new big three. That trio didn't work out, and now the Suns are in rebuilding mode.

Booker is still around, however, and he even signed a two-year, $145 million extension last summer that will keep him under contract through the 2028-29 season.

"It's a lot of pride," Booker said, per Friedell. "It's a lot of responsibility. It's something that I try to communicate to the young guys. Having those couple deep playoff runs, and just getting the city to become electric, is a feeling that I'm chasing, want to get back to."

Booker is the unquestioned leader and No. 1 star of this team in year No. 11. He is having his best season yet, averaging a career-high 30.0 points on 51.1 percent shooting alongside 7.4 assists and 4.0 rebounds per game.

The 3-4 Suns had some early adversity in the form of a four-game losing streak, but they've bounced back strong with an NBA Cup win over the Utah Jazz (118-96) and an impressive 130-118 victory over the previously undefeated San Antonio Spurs.
