Ravens Fined $100K for Lamar Jackson Injury Report Designation Before NFL Week 8
The NFL fined the Baltimore Ravens $100,000 for incorrectly listing Lamar Jackson as a full participant two days before a Week 8 matchup with the Chicago Bears on Sunday, Oct. 26, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported.
The Ravens said in a statement the team would not appeal the ruling and had "taken steps to ensure that we will be compliant moving forward."

Jackson was originally listed as a full participant on Friday, Oct. 24. The Ravens changed that designation to limited the following day while ruling Jackson out against Chicago.
Tyler Huntley ultimately started the Ravens' 30-16 win over the Bears, after which head coach John Harbaugh told reporters Jackson's incorrect injury designation had been an "honest mistake."
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Ravens could have lost draft picks had the NFL decided the change "was intentional or competitive in nature."
Schefter wrote that the NFL instead decided "the violation was the result of negligence, not an attempt to gain a competitive advantage."
Harbaugh said after the Week 8 win that he wasn't involved in determining injury designations, but that he thought the mistake might have been made because Jackson participated in "the same number of reps" as he would have in a normal practice while instead working with the scout team.
The NFL injury report policy states that players who normally play with starters should be listed as limited if they spend any part of practice, "no matter how extensive," with the scout team.
"I can tell you this. Nobody's trying to hide anything," Harbaugh said last Sunday. "There's no advantage to be gained with that."
Harbaugh added Tuesday that the Ravens had announced Jackson would be out Saturday, rather than waiting until game day, because it "became apparent" he wasn't going to play.
Until that Saturday, Harbaugh said he had believed there was an "outside chance" Jackson would be available to play the Bears.
Jackson's updated status caused a major shift in betting markets as to the Ravens' odds of defeating the Bears in Week 8.
Per NBC Sports' Michael David Smith, the Ravens were 6.5-point favorites at the time of Jackson's return to practice ahead of Week 8. The team dropped to 2.5-point favorites by gameday, per Smith.
Jackson returned to practice as a full participant on Monday. He made his return Thursday by leading the Ravens to a 28-6 Week 9 win over the Miami Dolphins.
