4-Star Center Maxime Meyer Commits to Duke over Stanford, Florida

Joseph ZuckerOct 30, 2025

Four-star center recruit Maxime Meyer committed to Duke on Thursday, according to Rivals' Joe Tipton.

Travis Branham of 247Sports reported Florida and Stanford were his other finalists as the Blue Devils and Gators "made pushes late to shake up his recruitment."

Meyer is the No. 12 center and No. 102 overall player in 247Sports' composite rankings for 2026.

At 7'1" and 215 pounds, the IMG Academy star is on the leaner side, with 247Sports' Adam Finkelstein writing in July he "needs strength."

"While he's not nearly physically developed yet, he doesn't shy away from contact. He's willing to be physical, has a long 7'3" wingspan, and huge 9'5" standing reach," Finkelstein said. "He's very coordinated for his size, a fluid mover in the open floor, and agile enough for an occasional euro-step in the lane. He's bouncier in space than he is among bodies at this point, but able to be a lob threat with his length, very fundamental about keeping the ball high in traffic, and an excellent offensive rebounder (3.3 per game). From a skill standpoint, he has solid hands, uses both instinctively around the rim on both ends of the floor (may actually prefer blocking shots with his left), and is comfortable putting the ball on the deck."

This past summer, Meyer represented Canada in the U19 Basketball World Cup. In seven games, he averaged six points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.3 blocks as the Canadians lost in the quarterfinals to the United States.

Duke now has two commits in 2026 with Bryson Howard, the No. 12 overall player, also pledging his future to the Blue Devils.

Head coach Jon Scheyer has been one of the top recruiters in men's basketball from the moment he succeeded Mike Krzyzewski in the role. Cooper Flagg, Dereck Lively II, Kyle Filipowski, Jared McCain and Kon Knueppel are among his headliners, and his 2025 haul included three top-20 players (Cameron Boozer, Nikolas Khamenia and Cayden Boozer).

It's safe to assume Meyer won't be Duke's last addition for 2026.
