Zachariah Branch NFL Draft 2026 Scouting Report for Atlanta Falcons WR
The Atlanta Falcons selected Georgia WR Zachariah Branch with the No. 79 overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft.
Zachariah Branch is one of the most dynamic athletes in the NFL Draft. He is lightning in a bottle and a dangerous playmaker out in space.
Branch excels with quick touches where he makes defenders miss out in the open field for yards after the catch.
He is a former 5-star recruit in the 2023 recruiting class. Branch began his career at USC before transferring to Georgia. He fits the mold of explosive YAC receivers who create issues for defenses out of the slot.

Where He Wins
2 of 5
- Electric playmaker in space with the football. Branch is a dynamic mover who puts defenders in conflict in the open field. His agility and elusiveness make it difficult for defenders to bring him down in one-on-one situations.
- His speed and acceleration are dangerous and emphasize pursuit angles for defenders. At top speed, Branch can outrun defenders and beat their angles, creating big plays after the catch.
- Usage versatility is one of the best parts of his skill set. The USC transfer can be infused into the offensive game plan in multiple ways: in the backfield as an RB, in the slot, in bunch sets, and in stacked alignments. He has taken handoffs from the backfield, and those reps looked natural.
- Branch transitions from receiver to runner quickly. He shows good contact balance, along with his athletic ability, to stay upright for extra yardage.
- Georgia's explosive weapon adds special teams value. He has two return touchdowns in his career. Branch's elusiveness and explosiveness make him a dangerous return specialist.
Areas of Improvement
3 of 5
- Branch has a limited wingspan and catch radius. He will struggle to make contested catches against tight-man coverage. This creates issues for the quarterback when targeting him downfield.
- He is an undersized receiver. He will need a creative playcaller to maximize his talents. NFL teams will potentially view Branch as a slot-only weapon, limiting his overall ceiling.
- Refining his route tree will have an impact on how NFL teams decide to deploy him. Branch needs to develop counters at the line of scrimmage against longer and more physical corners if he wants to have a chance as a predominant outside threat.
