Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
The sixth-year quarterback was a late addition to Miami's injury report with an illness heading into the matchup with Atlanta, revealing that he woke up with his left eye swollen shut.
"Probably one of the worst experiences I've had in terms of waking up, and that happens on a game day," Tagovailoa said after the victory, per ESPN's Marcel Louis-Jacques. "My eye was swollen shut, and then thanks to the medical staff, they ended up helping with antibiotics and whatnot and so yeah, I'm just glad I was able to go out there to play."
He wore sunglasses while warming up before using a visor for the game, finishing 20-of-26 for 205 yards and four touchdown passes without committing a turnover during the lopsided win.
It was a resurgent performance from Tagovailoa, who struggled throughout his 2025 campaign heading into the matchup. Prior to the victory over Atlanta, he completed 67.8 percent of his throws for 1,313 yards and 11 touchdowns while getting picked off 10 times.
Tagovailoa's 10 interceptions are still tied for the most in the NFL this season.
The Dolphins sit at just 2-6 in 2025 after beating the Falcons, but their starting signal-caller's recent success is an encouraging sign moving forward.
Tagovailoa will look to continue building momentum while wearing the visor during a Thursday night clash against the Baltimore Ravens. Kickoff is at 8:15 p.m. ET.
