AFC Playoff Picture

2 of 3
Titans Colts Football

The AFC playoff picture as of Week 9 is:

  1. Indianapolis Colts (7-1) (AFC South)
  2. New England Patriots (6-2) (AFC East)
  3. Denver Broncos (6-2) (AFC West)
  4. Pittsburgh Steelers (4-3) (AFC North)
  5. Buffalo Bills (5-2) (Wildcard)
  6. Los Angeles Chargers (5-3) (Wildcard)
  7. Jacksonville Jaguars (4-3) (Wildcard)
  8. Kansas City Chiefs (4-3)
  9. Houston Texans (3-4)
  10. Cincinnati Bengals (3-5)
  11. Las Vegas Raiders (2-5)
  12. Baltimore Ravens (2-5)
  13. Cleveland Browns (2-6)
  14. Miami Dolphins (2-6)
  15. New York Jets (1-7)
  16. Tennessee Titans (1-7)

The Indianapolis Colts' breakout season continued Sunday with another dominant victory, this time a 38-14 victory over division foes, the Tennessee Titans. Daniel Jones continued his MVP-caliber season, completing 21-of-29 passes for 272 yards and three touchdowns.

Offensive Player of the Year candidate Jonathan Taylor continued his dominance on the ground, carrying 12 times for 153 yards and two touchdowns.

That potent pairing, in head coach Shane Steichen's offensive scheme, have breathed new life into an organization that had modest expectations entering 2025, at best, and made fans believers in Jones again for the first time since his days at the University of North Carolina.

The team's path to the No. 1 overall seed in the AFC will not be easy, with upcoming match-ups against Pittsburgh (Week 9), Kansas City (Week 12), Seattle (Week 15), and San Francisco (Week 16), as well as divisional showdowns against Tennessee, Jacksonville, and Houston.

The Colts have silenced all doubters to this point in the season, though, and should continue to do so, establishing themselves as a legitimate postseason and Super Bowl contender, if the level of play on both sides of the ball continues.

NFC Playoff Picture

3 of 3
Packers Steelers Football

The NFC playoff picture as of Week 9 is:

  1. Green Bay Packers (5-1-1) (NFC North)
  2. Philadelphia Eagles (6-2) (NFC East)
  3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-2) (NFC South)
  4. Seattle Seahawks (5-2) (NFC West)
  5. Detroit Lions (5-2) (Wildcard)
  6. Los Angeles Rams (5-2) (Wildcard)
  7. San Francisco 49ers (5-3) (Wildcard)
  8. Chicago Bears (4-3)
  9. Carolina Panthers (4-4)
  10. Dallas Cowboys (3-4-1)
  11. Atlanta Falcons (3-4)
  12. Minnesota Vikings (3-4)
  13. Washington Commanders (3-4)
  14. Arizona Cardinals (2-5)
  15. New York Giants (2-6)
  16. New Orleans Saints (1-7)

The Green Bay Packers are the top seed in the NFC by way of a tie with the Dallas Cowboys. Otherwise, this conference would almost certainly belong to the defending Super Bowl champions, Philadelphia.

With that said, the Packers are seventh-best offensively with 359.1 yards per game and fifth with 29.6 points per. They can score with any opponent and defensively, are sixth with 289.4 yards per game. They are second in the league in points allowed per game with 16.7.

A complete team through the first half of the season, it will be interesting to see how the team holds up down the stretch where, in recent years, injuries to wide receivers have been problematic and ultimately adversely affected the organization's ability to win big playoff match-ups.

Quarterback Jordan Love is playing some of the best football of his career, though, with 13 touchdowns to two interceptions, and will keep the team in games regardless of who is lined up wide.

One slip-up, though, and the Eagles are ready to pounce and regain the top spot in the conference, especially with Jalen Hurts proving his value as a thrower of the football, even if the offensive coordinator inexplicably does not dial that up nearly enough.
