Jets Players Reportedly Talk Trade Rumors 'A Lot in the Cafeteria' Ahead of Deadline

Scott PolacekOct 26, 2025

All eyes will be on the New York Jets leading into the Nov. 4 NFL trade deadline.

Including, reportedly, their own players' eyes.

"The rumors are flying, and, yes, they seep into conversations among players around the team facility, they said," ESPN's Rich Cimini reported Sunday. "One player said it comes up a lot in the cafeteria. It's only natural for them to wonder who might be on the move. This is what happens on noncontending teams."

Cimini noted suitors have called the Jets, which isn't exactly surprising.

After all, they are 0-7 and already playing out the string on what has turned into a lost season. Shifting to a focus on the future seems to be the next logical move, and trading some of their veterans for draft picks would be a way to accelerate their ongoing rebuild.

With that as the backdrop, ESPN's Matt Bowen and Jeremy Fowler listed running back Breece Hall (No. 3), pass-rusher Jermaine Johnson (No. 10) and cornerback Michael Carter II (No. 12) among the 25 players who are most likely to be traded by the deadline.

Yet Cimini reported Johnson said the front office told him he will not be traded.

That sentiment supported his message on social media as well:

"We have a lot of talented players on the team, and we're not performing too well, so it makes sense for other teams to try to call and kind of ask where the [front office] and staff is in terms of maybe letting some guys go or keeping them," Johnson said. "So [the rumors] aren't odd. We're a talented team; we just haven't put it together."

Cimini listed Quinnen Williams, Quincy Williams, Will McDonald IV and Carter as defensive players who are seen as trade candidates while also highlighting Hall.

Hall is the headliner as someone who could dramatically raise the ceiling for a contending offense that needs running back help. He posted 1,585 yards from scrimmage in 2023 and followed that up with 1,359 yards from scrimmage in 2024.

What's more, the Iowa State product is scheduled for free agency after this season.

Perhaps New York will look to get something back in return with a trade before he potentially ends up elsewhere anyway during the 2026 campaign.
