What Is A.J. Brown's Injury? When Eagles WR Could Return After Latest Setback

Julia StumbaughOct 25, 2025

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown will sit out Sunday's Week 8 matchup against the visiting New York Giants with a hamstring injury, the team announced Friday.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Brown is likely to return after Philadelphia's Week 9 bye for the November 10 game against the Green Bay Packers.

Brown missed practice between Wednesday and Friday because his "hamstring remained tight from scar tissue as the week progressed," per Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer.

The Eagles previously lost Brown to a hamstring injury for part of training camp in August.

Brown recovered in time to start the first seven games of the 2025 season, most recently recording a season-high 121 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns in last Sunday's Week 7 win over the Minnesota Vikings.

The Eagles have a Week 9 bye. Unless Brown is placed on injured reserve, which would mandate he miss at least four games, the wide receiver could return as soon as Nov. 10 for a Week 10 matchup at the Green Bay Packers.

Brown played 46 out of the Eagles' 50 snaps against the Vikings, three days before showing up on Philadelphia's injury report.

He was listed as a non-participant in all three practices this week. 94WIP's Eliot Shorr-Parks shared video of him in street clothes on the sideline of Friday's practice.

Brown sat out the majority of training camp and the preseason with a hamstring injury, although NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported on Aug. 18 this was because the Eagles wanted to "take their time to make sure he doesn't suffer any setbacks."

Brown returned to practice on Aug. 27. He ramped up to game speed in time to take 55 offensive snaps on Sept. 4 in a season-opening win over the visiting Dallas Cowboys.

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said Friday he believed Brown is a player who could play even without taking practice reps in the week leading up to the game.

Sirianni was also asked if Brown's absence from practice had anything to do anything with a recent social media post captioned "Using me but not using me."

"Always in constant communication with all our guys. AJ's no different, and business as usual," Sirianni said.

The Eagles will hope next week's bye can give Brown enough time to recover in time for Week 10. Until then, DeVonta Smith is set to serve as Jalen Hurts' top target as Philadelphia prepares to take on Jaxson Dart and the Giants this weekend.
