Ben Roethlisberger Suggests Aaron Rodgers INT vs. Bengals Was Due to White Unis, Field
Former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger had quite the theory following his former team's loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday.
It was a whiteout game for Cincinnati, which meant the Bengals were playing in all-white uniforms in front of fans who were largely dressed in white as well. And to hear Roethlisberger tell it on his Footbahlin with Ben Roethlisberger podcast (h/t Dave Clark of the Cincinnati Enquirer), that contributed to one of Aaron Rodgers' interceptions.
"So Aaron's interception, the first one," Roethlisberger said. "I think there's an outside chance. I know it sounds crazy. With Aaron, he's incredibly good. He sees everything. But the Bengals were in all white. They painted the middle of the field white. I think there's a chance that the safety was camouflaged in the middle and Aaron didn't see him. … Typically, you would think like, 'It's not the Patriots so it wasn't cheating.'"

Every Team's Ideal 1st-Round Pick 👌
The interception came in the second quarter with the Steelers nursing a 10-7 lead, and the Bengals took the lead on the ensuing possession by scoring a touchdown. Rodgers then threw a pick on the very next Pittsburgh possession, which Cincinnati parlayed into a field goal.
Just like that, the home team was up 17-10 heading into halftime.
Rodgers settled down after intermission and directed touchdown drives on three of Pittsburgh's next four possessions. Somehow he was able to process the middle of the field on those possessions even though the fans were still wearing white and the Bengals didn't change uniforms during the break.
He was largely excellent outside of the two picks and went 23-of-34 for 249 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions. However, he was outdueled by fellow veteran Joe Flacco, who moved his team into game-winning field-goal range in the final seconds.
Flacco went 31-of-47 for 342 yards, three touchdowns and zero picks while leading the 3-4 Bengals to a much-needed win to get back into the AFC North race.
Pittsburgh is still ahead at 4-2, but Cincinnati is still within striking distance after the head-to-head victory.
The head-to-head victory that may or may not have been helped by potential Rodgers confusion when it came to the white-out theme.
